Worshiping the Lord with Passion

 

What is Worship?

          Hebrews 12:28 – “worship God acceptably with reverence and awe”

Mark 12:30

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and

with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

 

 

1.  Worship involves your heart.

          heart – the core of one’s personal being

          Proverbs 4:23

John 4:23-24

 

 

2.  Worship involves your soul.

         soul – emotion

         Matthew 26:38

Psalm 84:2 “I have rather – though the expression may seem harsh to some – called this the ‘appetite for God’ than ‘the love for God’.  The ‘love of God’ too easily suggests the word ‘spiritual’ in all those negative or restrictive senses which it has unhappily acquired… (the appetite for God) has all the cheerful spontaneity of a natural, even a physical, desire.” (C.S. 3.  Worship involves your mind and your strength.

            Deuteronomy 6:5

mind – “intellectual, willful vigor and determination, carrying both the meaning of mental endeavor and of strength.” (John MacArthur)
